Pinwheel Inlay Cabinet

Despite the fact the Covid-19 pandemic has closed all non-essential businesses (including my favorite lumber yard), I decided it was time to start a new project. I explored my stash of wood and found a great piece of walnut.

Inspired by the book (Furniture in the Southern Style by authors Bob Lang and Glen Huey), I selected the pinwheel inlay project on page 144. This book is exceptional. There are 27 shop drawings of furniture from the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts in Winston Salem, North Carolina (patterns for turning, inlay, molding profiles, and scalloped work). This cabinet includes these fine details:

- hand-cut dovetails
- behind the sculptured drawer faces are poplar drawer backs
- inlay (holly)

The pattern for the cabinet can be found in the book: Furniture in the Southern Style by authors Bob Lang and Glen Huey. For sale on ETSY
